Little Thespians: Story to Stage - Grumpy Monkey!
8:30am-12:00pm

Description: Jim the chimpanzee is in a terrible mood for no good reason. His friends can't understand it--how can he be in a bad mood when it's SUCH a beautiful day? They have lots of suggestions for how to make him feel better. Through creative play, storytelling and character building, students will explore emotional literacy, and work as a team to create their own adaptation of this beloved book to share with families and friends at the end of the session! Students also will receive a copy of the book as a memento from the class!

Little Thespians: Discovery Drama - The Magic Suitcase!
8:30am-12:00pm

Description: Imagine a suitcase filled with five objects. To whom does it belong? Where is this person going and why? Without even realizing it, students will be led on a journey of the imagination that involves character creation, scene building, storytelling, and visual art that will conclude in a wonderful share performance for family and friends!

YOUNG ACTORS AGES 9-12, GRADES 3-8

Monday, July 8th - Friday, July 19th (2 weeks) 

Mini Production: Midsummer Night’s Dream!
8:30am-3:30pm

Description: Students will explore the magical world (and words) of Shakespeare through a fantastical tale of fairies, mischief and fun! Each student will go through a “mock” audition and then receive a role in a shortened adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Rehearsals will involve character development, exploring scenes, and working together to build a production to share with families and friends. Additionally, students will be able to choose a sonnet to perform either alone or with a partner on performance day! An essential class for the budding performer and  amazing opportunity for those who took Acting I or Acting II at PTA over the last year!

Monday, July 22nd - Friday, August 2nd (2 weeks)

Musical Theatre Prep: The Greatest Show!
8:30am-3:30pm

Description: “Come alive!” and celebrate what makes you different through musical numbers and choreography from the smash-hit movie The Greatest Showman! This class is designed to give all our 9-12 year old students experience on stage and to develop their talents in Singing, Dancing and Acting. This helps them become more comfortable with performing in front of others as well as to become Triple Threat performers. They will love the thrill of the stage and the spotlight. Their confidence will soar as their talents develop! A share performance for family and friends will conclude the session!

ACTING INTENSIVE FOR TEENS!

Monday, June 24th - Friday, June 28th (1 week)

Description: Sean Harris, Artistic Director of Playhouse on Park and renowned audition coach, will be holding a week-long acting intensive for high school students. This course is designed exclusively for high school students who are passionate about honing their craft. This immersive experience is tailored for dedicated artists aspiring to elevate their acting technique and pave the way for a future in theatre.Participants will engage in dynamic units that cover a spectrum of essential skills. From fostering ensemble connections through physical theatre to mastering both contemporary and classical monologues and scenes, this intensive provides a comprehensive exploration of the art of acting. The curriculum extends to the realms of Film and TV, offering insights and practical skills crucial for the screen. Additionally, participants will receive specialized audition preparation for both Musicals and Plays, equipping them with the tools needed to shine in the competitive world of performance.
